To add articles to this educational platform you need to create an user account in one-step registration process.

Due to security risks, it is not possible to upload any material to this platform. If you intend to add files please use open-access services for file sharing, e.g. Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, GoogleDrive and publish the link to the selected file on the Systems Biology Educational Portal.  It is also possible to embed video lectures on YouTube and presentations from Slideshare. You can format your article on your own by using the WYSIWYG editor.


Review and acceptance of submitted articles

Authors need to publish articles themselves (see ‘How to publish, change of delete an article’). After publishing, the article will be reviewed by the administrator of this portal and, if necessary, formatted. Articles that contain unwanted content can be deleted by the administrator without further explanation.

How to add content

Please choose ‘Add new article’ optinon on the right side. In the next window, you can write text, add links to files or additional material and format the article. Please use the "Read more" separator at the bottom of the page to split your article into an introductory part (approx. 5 lines) and a main part. Only the introduction will be displayed in the list of posted articles and should therefore summarize the content of the article briefly.

Below shows how to embed videos, presentations and images into your article. If you intend to embed another type of media, please contact the administrator by using the Contact form or by sending a request to This email address is being protected from spambots. How to add a YouTube video

You need the 'Embed Code' of your YouTube video, and to enter it in the article editor of the Systems Biology Educational Portal. You can find it on YouTube just below your video in the 'Share' menu (see Fig. 1). Click 'Embed' to get the Code. You need to select the  'Use old embed code' checkbox.

Copy this code. Press the source code button marked in red (see. Fig. 2) to open the source code window, paste the code and click OK. The link to your YouTube video will now be displayed in your article.

How to add a Slideshare presentation is a service for presentation and document sharing. You can embed Slideshare into articles by simply copying and pasting a Slideshare ID between the slideshare flags: .

For example, if your Slideshare ID is 14167122, then you would enter the following text: To find the ID of your presentation, open the presentation on Slideshare, click the 'Embed' button on the top (see Fig.3. no.1), then click the  'Customize' button (see Fig. 3. no.2) and you can copy your ID from the  'Shortcode for Wordpress blogs' area marked in red in Fig. 3.

How to add images

It is also possible to add images form the internet or your file-sharing service to your article by copying its link. Fig. 4 shows the browser with an image open in a new tab. Depending on the browser  it may be possible to get the link to the image by copying the image URL, or by opening the ‘Image Properties’ window in the browser menu.

To insert this image into your article, you need to copy its address, open the 'Insert/edit image' window by clicking the highlighted button, paste the URL into the field 'Source' and click OK (see Fig. 5).

Publishing options

For each article, you need to specify the title in the 'Content' tab. Additionally, you can add specific information on your article by choosing the 'Publishing' (Fig. 6) and "Metadata" (Fig. 7) tabs. 

Under "Publishing" you can add specific tags (you can choose from existing ones or add new ones) and add your name to the ‘Author's Alias’ field.

How to publish, change or delete an article

After adding a new article you need to publish it  under My articles (, which can be found in the main menu. My articles allows you to view the list of your published and unpublished articles. If the "Published " button of the corresponding article is marked in red, the article is not published yet. Press the "Published" button and it will change to green - that means that your article has now been published (Fig. 8).
